Having had Acne for the longest time and being on Roaccutane means that I’ve experienced the best of both worlds (just no.). I’ve had oily skin that needed powder constantly and dry skin that no amount of moisturiser could fix. Right now, it’s somewhat balanced, clear and under control.
I always love a good pamper before bed, especially one that’s fast and can be done within minutes. I’ve recently (past three to six months) added a few masks and items here and there and thought I would share my experiences. I have all good things to say about these five beauties. Just to note, my skin right now is leaning slightly dry, no acne and a bit sensitive.
Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist: This is a incredibly luxurious feeling, quenching mist. It is normally my first step out of the shower, or after cleansing. While some mists (rose water) are more light, this one definitely contains oils and feels a bit more powerful in hydrating. It is also anti-aging and contains a variety of antioxidants including rose, clove and pea extracts.
Dermalogica Multivitamin Power Recovery Masque: This is a gem. I have it on my face as I am typing and it is just so hydrating. (You’ll notice a pattern soon) My skin has been so parched lately which in truth, never happens normally. It is a wash off mask with Vitamins A, C, E and F. I don’t know what all of them do, but it was tempting enough to try. I actually feel a real difference using this which can’t be said about all hydrating wash off products.
I used to get Dermalogica Facials (and I am dreaming about one now) and they used a variety of their products on me which always seemed to work well.
Origins Drink Up Intensive Masque: Probably the heaviest and most wonderful when my skin is in desperate need of healing is this mask. Unlike the others, this is a overnight product that seals in all the moisturising products used in previous steps. It is definitely heavy and fragranced but I wake up and my skin doesn’t feel tight and dry (which is a big deal). I recommended my friend’s mum try it and she also loved it. It contains Avocado oil, Apricot Kernael oil and Plant Glycerin.
Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream: I’m pretty sure I’ve sung this item praise since the day I bought it. This brand is such an interesting one and I’m dying to try their Vitamin C and Glycolic products. It’s a thick, whipped cream that goes on non-sticky and is easily absorbed. There is no detectable artificial fragrance which makes it great when my skin is sensitive and irritated. Go to product for skin that is problematic.
Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil: I have a lot of pigmentation on my face from spots and I love using this oil for healing skin. It is kind of a dry oil so it is fairly light and absorbable if you are scared of that oily feeling that heavier oils tend to leave behind. While a lot of people claim that oils make their skin more balanced, I haven’t experienced that. This gem is something I save for drier skin days and night time use. Almost done with this bottle (and I’ve used multiple bottles in the past).
These are a roundup of what I think are hyped products that are worth a try. They are the best skincare finds in my experience. With any skincare, I think it’s a good idea to give it a test before purchase as it depends on each individual’s skin type.
Hope you enjoyed my favourite picks!
