Everlane Japanese GoWeave Long Slip Dress || Review + Styling

My Review

You know those items in your wardrobe that are nice to look at but just don’t get enough love? This Everlane GoWeave Slip Dress is one of those. I love slip dresses, I love the mint colour but it’s just an item that gets somewhat neglected in my wardrobe.

I purchased the beautiful dress with the thought that slip dresses are versatile to wear on their own, sliped over a t shirt or layered over/under knits. And while I’ve done both of those things while owning this slip dress, a few flaws make it less versatile than I had originally hoped.

The material which claims to be wrinkle resistant isn’t anything superb. When I’ve been sitting down, I can see some faint creases develop, something that my clothes don’t generally do (even when they’re not said to be wrinkle resistant). The material has no give which would be fine if the style was more loose fitting. The close fit means that the dress is quite restrictive around the hips and legs and limits you as you’re going about your day to day.

I will say I love the slit on the side of the dress which makes it very elongating and playful. The v-neck is quite simple but elegant and the overall look of the dress is quite pleasing. This dress is definitely made for taller girls though. I’m 160cm or 5’3 and I got the 00.  I then had to take in the straps a good 3-4cm or ~1.5 inches for it to not be overly revealing.

I much prefer this Everlane slip dress styled with heels and a nicer cross body bag than styled with an oversized and casual straw bag. In my opinion, it looks better dressed up for evening wear with more glam accessories to add some interest to an otherwise plain dress.

All in all, not my favourite purchase from Everlane but one I will try to wear more during the upcoming summer! If you’re a first time Everlane customer— click here to use my referral code which would be greatly appreciated!
