Grana Silk Culottes Review

Boy have I been obsessed with Grana and Everlane lately and I’m doing a review of Grana’s silk culottes in this post. I’m obsessed and this is no exception! It’s probably no surprise since every post I do seems to be related to these two brands. I’ve been trying to build a more classic wardrobe and have been doing a huge clothing detox. I’ve sold more than 50 items (aka half my wardrobe) on Ebay in the last month which means I’ve been a bit spendy looking to add some pieces that are versatile and will stay in my wardrobe for a few years to come. Amongst the things I’ve sold are three pairs of black culottes! I decided to give up a few pairs from ASOS to purchase this nicer quality pair from Grana.

Style and Size

I really like the way this item moves when you’re walking and going about your day to day life. It has a lovely drape to it and is such an elegant pant. I’m 100% biased as I love a good culotte- especially on a chill day. They look so effortless and cool and go with just about anything tucked into it. I’m 160cm and these hit me at a good length (potentially ever so slightly long). I’m normally a US 2, AU 6 and I went for the XXS. They’re quite snug but I went down a size for the length as I really didn’t want to deal with getting the silk tailored. I would say these are true to size so go with your ordinary size.

Material Quality and Feel

I adore the material of the silk. It’s a satin feeling silk, not sueded like the Everlane silk. On the skin, it’s really silky and soft but I think the biggest difference is that it moves really nicely and has a lovely flow to it when compared to my cheaper alternatives. The silk from Everlane and Grana are almost too different to compare. They are a world of a difference in terms of the feel and I’m sitting on the fence as I do enjoy both. I haven’t noticed any issues with the silk especially since I’m not the most careful of people which is good.

Other things to note

When these culottes first came, there were quite a few loose threads that I was a little concerned about on the waist line. However, it was really no issue as they all came out by themselves (the type of lose thread that doesn’t affect the seam and can be easily pulled out). I absolutely adore the way Grana packages their items with beautiful printed paper. It’s a small touch but really adds something special to every delivery.

Styling and Outfit

I wore these with a Uniqlo cotton top, Everlane Modern Babo shoes and a Mansur Gavriel bag. I love versatile pieces and I would feel comfortable wearing these casually on a lazy day but also dressed up for work (think silk blouse and culottes/heels).
